Angered by the service at a Canadian café earlier this week, two men decided, rather than vocalizing their displeasure, to throw a snake over the counter at the staff.

Police were called to Tim Hortons in Saskatoon at 7.30am on Monday 8 December after the two men, aged 20, caused a disturbance involving a live snake.

They had been arguing with staff because they were unhappy about a sandwich they had ordered as the onions on it were not diced.

The police statement said: “As the argument escalated, one of the men reached into the pocket of his friend’s coat, pulled out a snake and threw it behind the counter.”

The café staff fled in fear and the police were called shortly afterwards. The snake was located, found to be non-poisonous and has been temporarily homed until it can be released into the wild next spring.

The two men were charged with mischief and causing a disturbance.

Police officer Alysoon Edwards said: “I’ve never heard of a snake being thrown at an employee by a customer … It was definitely a little chaotic.”
